CBSE Class 10 English Language and Literature New Syllabus 2025

CBSE 10th English language and literature Syllabus 2025: The CBSE has officially released the official CBSE 10th English Syllabus for the English communicative part as this has a different set of books. The official marking pattern of this part is divided into 3 sections.

The first section is the Reading section that contains questions and exercises that are made to test the reading skill of the student. The second one is the grammar section that has been that will be testing the student’s skills with the grammar portion and then the literature section that will be based upon the literature and the novel portion of the course.   • Four Short Answer type Questions of 2 marks each (30-40 words) (08 marks)
  • One long answer type question (100-120 words) (8 marks
  • One very long answer type question (200-250 words)(10 Marks)

One out of two extracts from prose/poetry/drama for reference to context. Four Objective
Type Question( including MCQs): Two questions of one mark each on global comprehension
and two questions of 1 mark each on interpretation.

Five Short Answer type Questions to be answered in 30-40 words each from FIRST FLIGHT and FOOTPRINTS WITHOUT FEET to test local and global comprehension of theme and ideas( three from FIRST FLIGHT and two from FOOTPRINTS WITHOUT FEET) .

One out of two Long Answer type Questions from FIRST FLIGHT to be answered in about 100-150 words to assess creativity, imagination and extrapolation beyond the text and across the texts.

One out of two long answer question from the book ‘FOOTPRINTS without FEET’ on theme or plot involving interpretation, extrapolation beyond the text and inference or character sketch to be answered in about 100-150 words.
