Indian National Astronomy Olympiad (INAO) 2024: After qualifying for the National Standard Examination in Astronomy (NSEA) candidates will appear in INO ‘s Astronomy Examination (INAO) Which is conducted by the HBCSE (Homi Bhabha Centre For Science Education).
This exam is usually conducted at the end of November. It is the second stage and only those candidates will appear in the exam who clear the Stage- 1 examination of Astronomy. We are providing here the complete information of the INAO 2024.
INAO 2024 Exam Dates
There is no such date has been announced yet but the exam will the exam of the INO 2024 will commence from the month of Feb. We will provide is the INAO Exam Date 2024 after it will release officially by the HBCSE.

Selection Procedure For Astronomy Stage II (INAO 2024)
- The batch/ pool of the students is divided into two groups i.e. Group- A & B. Under Group A, students must be in class XII as from November 2024 will come while in Under Group B, students who are in class XI or lower will come as from November 2024.
- Total 250 number of students will be selected from each group for stage II of INAO. Hence the total 500 students will be selected.
- For each group, there will be separately Merit Index (MI) and Minimum Admissible Score (MAS) will be calculated.
- All the clauses which are given below will be applied separately for each group. Clauses in given in the official pdf.
- The question paper of NSEA 2024 and INAO 2024 will be identical for two groups.
Eligibility Criteria For INAO
Before Applying for the exam there are some of the eligibility criteria to which students need to full-fill. The INAO Eligibility Criteria is as follows:
- The student must not appear in NSEJS 2024.
- Must not have commenced studies in university or institution before 1st June,
- Those candidates who are applying for the exam must be capable to hold the Indian passport.
- Must be the resident of India and also he/ she studies in India since Nov, 2022 and not completed the 12th board examination earlier than the same date.
- The DOB of the candidate is in between 1 July 2005 and 30 June, 2010 (both days are included).
Enrollment Fee
To take participate in the exam candidate need to submit the fees. The amount will be paid Rs. 150/- per student per subject at the center in-charge of NSE registration center.
Steps For Enrollment in INAO Exam
Candidate will be allowed for the next stage only after they will clear the first stage in the National Olympiad Program. The steps for enrollment is given below.
- Go to the official site i.e. hbcse.tifr.res.in
- Search the Olympiad option. Majorly it is available at the top of the desktop
- Click on the link of the upcoming events.
- Enter the NSE center code, roll number, DOB to enroll in INO.
- Students need to choose their examination center at the time of registration.
INAO 2024 Syllabus

OCSC Exam Schedule For Astronomy
The Orientation-Cum-Selection Camps (OCSC) which is held at HBCSE center will conduct in the month of April to June. For the Astronomy Olympiad, the OCSC exam is scheduled from 22 April – May 09.
INAO Admit Card
Before going to the exam candidate need to download the examination admit card. The admit card of INAO exam has been released online before the exam is scheduled. Candidates are able to download the admit card of INAO a few weeks before the exam is scheduled.
INAO Result
After giving the exam the result of INAO is release by the HBCSE on the official site. So those candidates who given the exam can check their result from the official site of INO i.e. secure.hbcse.tifr.res.in/ino/.
